The CAYBBA Basketball family lost a good friend when Jim Young passed away unexpectedly on November 19th.
Jim leaves behind a wife and 3 young sons, as well as many family and friends in our communities. Jim coached his sons in the CAYBBA Basketball program, and 2 of the boys now play Chaska traveling basketball.
Chaska Area Youth Basketball Association (CAYBBA) Traveling Basketball is offered for the 4th-8th grade youth of Eastern Carver County School District 112 who reside within the Chaska High School attendance area.
We will continue to operate under current ISD112 boundaries until the new boundaries go into effect for the 2017-18 school year.
During the 2016 -17 Winter basketball season, CAYBBA and CAA will accept and approve transfer waivers for those players that would like to align with the 2017 – 18 high school boundaries. These waivers are in accordance with MYAS guidelines, waivers are available via the MYAS Player Release Form.
In addition, exceptions will be made under the following circumstances, in accordance with Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS) guidelines.
Players who reside outside the Chaska High School attendance area, and are enrolled at a school within the Chaska High School attendance area, are eligible to participate in CAYBBA Traveling Basketball. This exception applies to students who attend private schools, attend a school via open enrollment, or attend a school via intra-district transfer.
A player is eligible for CAYBBA Traveling Basketball if a parent or guardian resides within the Chaska High School attendance area.
Children of current CAYBBA Board members are eligible to participate in CAYBBA Traveling Basketball.
All players that have played for CAYBBA in the past on a Waiver will be grandfathered in and will be eligible to continue to participate in CAYBBA traveling basketball.
In keeping with CAYBBA's mission to develop youth basketball players and support the Chaska High School basketball program, the CAYBBA Board has decided to terminate the current Waiver/Transfer program. We will no longer accept pre-tryout transfers into our traveling basketball program.
All players that have played for CAYBBA in the past on a Waiver will be grandfathered in and will be allowed to continue to participate in CAYBBA traveling basketball. Also, children of current CAYBBA Board members will be allowed to participate in CAYBBA traveling basketball regardless of their place of residence.
Players that live outside the District 112 boundaries and are enrolled in schools inside the district boundaries will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
In situations where additional players are needed to form teams after tryouts, CAYBBA will work in cooperation with CAA to attempt to fill teams.
